Dental Veneers
Improve the shape, position and colour of your teeth with thin porcelain veneers that are constructed by our skilled laboratory technicians.
Dental veneers are very thin, specially shaped pieces of porcelain which are fixed onto the surface of the tooth using dental cement. To give you an idea how the finished effect will look, the dentists at Bancroft Dentistry will take impressions of your teeth and construct the veneers in wax on models. Once you’re happy with the model, we’ll turn it into reality by using the wax veneers as a template to construct the final porcelain veneers.
Porcelain Veneers are a form of Minimally Invasive Dentistry as we can minimise the amount of preparation we carry out to the front of the tooth. Sometimes we can even carry out no preparation veneers. The final result is a tooth that looks and feels as natural as possible with aesthetics to match the rest of your dentition, no-one else would know they weren’t your own natural teeth.
Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening is a simple procedure and a super way at getting a great change quickly in the way your teeth look. By whitening teeth they can even mask irregularities and just generally make you feel better about your teeth. They are often used in conjunction with other treatments, maybe some slight contouring and addition of tooth coloured filling materials to improve defects.
We use two types of Tooth Whitening at Bancroft Dentistry in Hitchin.
Enlighten and White Dental Beauty
Both are forms of home tray whitening which we feel are the best and most effective systems for our patients and which achieve the most consistent results. We will take impressions of your teeth and construct whitening trays that are custom made for you. We then show you how to insert a special whitening gel into the trays and explain how long you need to wear the trays for.
Generally average treatments are for 10-14 days with recommended repeats by yourself every few months. This allows you to maintain the level of whiteness you would like. Our gels release the whitening agent, hydrogen peroxide, in slightly different concentrations and your dental team will advise which of the two systems is more suitable for you. For instance, if you are prone to sensitivity Enlighten may be a better system for you to use.
Tooth whitening is a great motivator to help you keep your teeth and gums healthy, fresh and bright.
Smile Makeovers
Cosmetic or aesthetic transformations usually include several different types of dental treatments, maybe some whitening, a veneer or two or even replacement of a tooth with a dental implant.
It is important to assess initially your current dental health and what you do and don’t like about your teeth. By using our latest diagnostic technology with cameras, x-rays and scans we can formulate a suitable treatment plan. There may well be more than one way to improve your dental appearance. We want to be certain you understand each different approach and to ensure that you are happy with the outcome. This will take time and may even involve a wax up of a trial run so you can see the three dimensional result.
