Oral Health Checks
Oral Health checks are the starting point and form an important step in assessing what treatments would be suitable for you and what your requirements are.
An oral health check is so much more than checking your teeth and usually the teeth are the last thing we look at. First we will discuss your medical history, past dental experiences, what your concerns may be.
We then inspect:
your jaw joint and neck area
your jaw opening
the lining of your mouth, tongue and back of mouth – for an oral cancer screen
your gums and if there is gum disease present
your teeth for decay, wear and tear, discolouration
how your teeth fit together
x-rays that may be required
We are fortunate to have a CT scanner at Bancroft Dentistry so if required we can obtain very specialised views of the dental issue.
Once all the information has been gathered we will discuss options for further care with you with appropriate costings and time scales.
