31 May National Smile Month 2016
Smiling about better oral health!
If you have an appointment at Bancroft Dentistry between 16th May and 16th June, you may notice a few rather large smiles around reception (and I don’t just mean Nicola and Sue are feeling extra perky during this time!). We have some handheld ‘smileys’ dotted around the place to help us celebrate National Smile Month 2016!
National Smile Month is organised by the Oral Health Foundation and is the UK’s largest and longest-running campaign to promote good oral health. By raising awareness of oral health issues National Smile Month intends to make a positive difference to millions of people across the UK. And this year is extra special as it celebrates its 40th birthday!
Find out more about National Smile Month here!
A smile is a powerful gesture which shows confidence and for many people it isn’t a worry. Unfortunately, other people are embarrassed about their teeth and gums and so feel too self-conscious to smile. This is where the smileys come in! They are there to help spread smiles far and wide, while also reminding us of National Smile Month’s key messages:
- Brush your teeth last thing at night and on at least one other occasion with a fluoride toothpaste.
- Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks.
- Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.
At Bancroft Dentistry we are joining in the fun by encouraging our staff and patients to take a selfie with the smileys! It can be done on your own or as a group, then you just need to post it to social media with the hashtag: #MySmileySelfie – Simple!
So what are you waiting for?! Pick up a smiley and get snap happy! Of course, feel free to tag Bancroft Dentistry in your post as well!
Best wishes,
