18 Jan The Fairytale of Shane’s new smile
The ‘Everest’ of Dental treatments
I know Christmas has been and gone and we are more interested in keeping up with the New Year resolutions, but stick with me.
Most of us well aware of the Christmas song the ‘Fairytale of New York’ by Kirsty MacColl and The Pogues. Those of us, of a certain age, remember the front man for The Pogues, Shane MacGowan for his teeth as much as his singing style and his use of a metal tea tray as a percussive instrument.
Over the years, Shane’s teeth have deteriorated to the point of being virtually just stumps. A few years ago, when The Pogues performed in Brixton, many could see only gums, and although, not one to age gracefully the lack of teeth was having a very noticeable impact on his singing performance.
Over the festive holidays the Guardian published an article referring to the documentary that told the tale of how Shane has got his smile back. The Dentist described the treatment as being the ‘Everest of Dentistry’. You can see why,the full article is here;
One of the more rock n roll requests from Shane with his new smile, is the single gold crown, ever the individual, he will never be one to conform.
At Bancroft Dentistry in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, we have experience in restoring smiles like Shane’s. We can even get you a gold front tooth if you really want it. Although we would prefer that you don’t allow your teeth to get to such a condition , but if you are nervous after a long absence and are unfamiliar with what a modern trip to the Dentist is like, just take that first step and book a consultation today or come in for a chat, you will be surprised at what can modern dentistry can achieve for you … !
Best wishes
