In some cases, and because sadly there might be some age-related bone loss, your dentures (particularly the lower ones) may not stay in very well, even with modern fixatives.
The answer lies in placing implants to secure your denture, which prevents bone loss and provides unrivalled chewing function.
As a former ‘Dentist of the Year’, Dr Fahd Saleh our specialist periodontist is vastly experienced in placing implants, and in particular the more complex nature of this type of treatment.

What Are Implant-retained Dentures?
Implant-retained dentures click in and out of surgically placed dental implants.
Whilst traditional dentures use suction to stay in position, implant-retained dentures have supporting tooth roots (the implants) to help them stay in place in the same way that real tooth roots anchor the crown of your teeth.
Implant-retained dentures offer an amazing degree of stability – gone will be the days that you worry about your dentures moving around when you’re trying to enjoy eating your favourite foods or laughing along to a joke. Your dentures will stay firmly in place, giving you peace of mind you may previously have never experienced.
We can offer implant-retained dentures to patients who currently have missing teeth as well as to patients who’d like a more modern, lightweight and sustainable set of teeth.
Implant-retained Denture Benefits
- Stable fit
- Replace traditional dentures with a stronger alternative
- Better chewing capacity
- Cost-effective implant treatment for patients with a large number of missing teeth (sometimes just 2 implants can be used to secure a row of teeth)

FAQs
Am I suitable for treatment with implants?
During your consultation appointment, we will assess your suitability for implants. Thankfully, a lot of research has been done into helping patients with very little of their own jawbone access implant-based treatment.
In cases where a significant jawbone is missing, we can carry out bone grafts to build up sufficient bone in practice – it’s important to us that you’re able to have each facet of your implant journey carried out under one roof and by dentists you can trust.
How do I start the process to get my new set of teeth?
The process starts with a complimentary video consultation with our implant dentist Fahd. This is a great no-obligation opportunity to find out more about the treatment, and to voice any worries you have – sometimes a chat can be enough to alleviate any anxiety surrounding getting your teeth replaced.
You also have the option of attending a full assessment right away, during which a CT scan is taken to give a more accurate view before a video call. This will give Fahd greater insight into your hygiene status and suitability for implants, saving you time on your route to a full smile.
How many procedures are needed to get my implants?
There is only one surgery needed to receive your dental implants.
If your CT scan demonstrates you have low jawbone density, you will require bone regeneration surgery prior to your implant surgery. Your jaw may take up to a year to heal before we can book you in for your implant surgery. Believe us when we say that it’s 100% worth the wait, as you’ll have a functional set of teeth that allow you to eat, smile and talk freely again.
