the Bancroft way . . . putting patients first

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is one of the easiest ways to solve different dental problems including:

chipped or cracked teeth – particularly after excessive tooth wear

decayed teeth

discoloured teeth – useful to hide darker areas of teeth or to lighten the colour of all your front teeth after whitening.

spaces between teeth – particularly after orthodontic treatment or natural gaps between front teeth.

It involves adding a tooth-coloured filling material matched to your own teeth (or lighter if we are going alter the shade of teeth) – this filling is moulded to create a perfect seamless match.

All in all, it is the perfect way of solving minor dental imperfections WITHOUT going to the expense of porcelain veneers or crowns – often the require little or no drilling too!

Dental Onlays

When we are looking for a repair where we need a little more strength than a composite (white) filling or perhaps to alter the shape of a tooth, an inlay or onlay may be considered.

They are the most modern way of replacing tooth structure lost through decay, wear and fracture and because nowadays we take a more conservative approach to dentistry, they are at forefront of what we do here at Bancroft.

They are generally made of a tooth-coloured porcelain which is hard enough to withstand biting forces and looks just like the tooth it replaces.

Onlays and inlays are constructed in the same way as crowns are, in the dental laboratory by our skilled team of UK based technicians.

Dental Crowns

A crown covers and replaces the whole outer surface of a tooth

They are used to restore a tooth to its former glory when more than just a composite (white) filling is required and an onlay (see above) isn’t deemed strong enough.

In the past, crowns were made of either layered porcelain and metal, or gold BUT nowadays most of our crowns are purely ceramic and match the tooth perfectly.

In the same way as onlays and inlays, crowns are made by our dedicated UK based technicians to match your mouth exactly.

There is more preparation required than a filling or to a certain degree an onlay/inlay, but the end result is something that looks like a tooth and is very strong.

A large number of crowns we make are to replace older porcelain/bonded crowns where they no longer fit OR the shade no longer matches OR the older crown margins have become obvious as the gums have changed.
Speak to your dentist about how we can improve these for you!

Dental Veneers

Most people will have some idea of what veneers are and what they can do to the overall shape, position and colour of your teeth (there are plenty of good and not-so-good examples on view daily on our TV screens after all)

Veneers have been in and out of fashion for the last 3 decades BUT with the advent of new techniques and much better materials, they can be and excellent treatment modality to change your smile forever!

Dental veneers are very thin, especially shaped shells of porcelain which are permanently fixed onto the surface of the tooth (usually several front teeth to maximise the effect).

They do rely on some tooth preparation (unlike composite bonding) but are more rigid and longer lasting because of this – we are also able to make greater changes than composite bonding with veneers.

The final result are teeth that look and feel as natural as possible with beautiful aesthetics (we check this before preparing and fitting anything and once again work with top UK dental technicians to help us achieve this!

Smile Design and Makeovers

Cosmetic or aesthetic transformations usually include several different types of dental treatments, maybe some whitening, a veneer or two or even replacement of a tooth with a dental implant.

It is important to assess initially your current dental health and what you do and don’t like about your teeth. By using our latest diagnostic technology with cameras, x-rays and CT scans we can formulate a suitable treatment plan.

(Remember some plans can be relatively simple, involving, say, a few replacement fillings; others can be quite complicated involving implants, either way, the whole point is to improve the smile you have!

Once we embark on the treatment course of your choosing it will be to deliver long lasting dentistry, not just a short fix for a smile makeover.

True improvements for better long-term aesthetics and better dental health is what we strive for.

Again, ask your dentists to run through all the possibilities with you.
